What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is the use of tiny needles to create a controlled, micro-injury on the skin surface. It works by stimulating collagen and elastin production resulting in plumper, more radiant skin.
To begin the treatment, your therapist will apply a numbing cream to your skin to make the treatment more comfortable. Once the numbing cream has settled in, the microneedling device is massaged across the face. This causes small cuts on the skin’s surface, which promotes new skin cells to be formed, leaving your skin looking rejuvenated.
Why should I choose Microneedling?
Microneedling is most commonly used to tackle skin issues such as acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. It can also be used to minimise the appearance of large pores, skin pigmentation issues and stretch marks.
Is Microneedling safe?
We know that the idea of sticking needles into your skin may not seem very appealing, however the treatment is completely safe. Our clients are often surprised to find that the treatment is virtually pain free, especially when numbing cream is used. Depending on the device used and what your therapist advises, the needle length can vary from 0.5-3.0 mm.
The treatment isn’t recommended to those who may suffer from Psoriasis or Eczema as it may lead to further irritation to the skin.
Why is collagen important?
Collagen is the most prominent protein found in the human body, it essentially holds the body together and contributes to keeping the skin firm. The body stops producing collagen around the age of 25, therefore from this point onwards, skin will gradually become less firm, smooth and elastic.
When should I expect to see results from the treatment?
We usually recommend a course of 3-6 sessions, depending on the severity of your skin concerns. If you are interested in having Microneedling with us but you are still a little unsure, you can book in for a free consultation with one of our skin specialists!
