If your lips are thin or not quite as full as they used to be, there is something you can do about it. Hyaluronic Acid Fillers, also known as Juvederm® can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth and make your lips look fuller, younger and more attractive. This will give you the confidence you need to take on your day and know that you always look your best.
Fillers such as Juvederm® have become popular among women who want a non-surgical, office-based procedure that will give them fuller lips without a lot of side effects or increased recovery time. Lip fillers provide instant results that are noticeable and that can last up to a year or more. But what about the procedure? Many women are apprehensive about any medical procedures that involve their appearance, so we decided to create this helpful guide that shows how to prepare for the procedure and what to expect.
Before the Procedure
Being a minimally invasive procedure, the lip filler procedure requires very little preparation before the actual procedure. You can receive treatment on the day of your first consultation and you may follow your normal daily routine prior to coming into the office. A helpful tip is to avoid taking any aspirin products as these can increase the chance of bruising. Certain other medications including Coumadin® (warfarin) and Plavix®, could cause bruising around the injection sites and you should take a natural supplement called Arnica Montanna to avoid this while still taking your prescription medication.
The administration of Juvederm® usually takes less than fifteen minutes. Alcohol or antiseptic will be used to clean the skin just prior to your treatment and a topical anesthetic will applied to the area to be treated. This will then be removed and a cold gel pack applied to the treatment area shortly before injection.
After the Procedure
After the procedure, you can touch up your makeup and do many of the things you typically do throughout your day. You will want to avoid exercising as additional swelling could occur with strenuous physical activity immediately following your treatment. You might notice some bruising around the injection site but that should diminish in a day or so.
The effects of the Juvederm® lip filler procedure will last up to a year and you will instantly notice a difference in your appearance.
