We answer your questions about Microneedling

Microneedling is one of our most popular treatments here at SkinHQ but what actually is it? We answer your most frequently asked questions so that you can book in for Microneedling with confidence.

What is it?

Microneedling is the use of tiny needles to create a controlled, micro-injury on the skins surface. It works by stimulating collagen and elastin production for plumper and more radiant looking skin.

Who can have it?

Everyone can benefit from this treatment but it is especially effective on those with acne scarring, pigmentation issues, large pores, and fine lines/wrinkles. Microneedling also improves the effectiveness of skincare products, as it creates a ‘fast-track’ channel which allows products to be deeply penetrated into the skin.

No we can treat areas of the body with Microneedling too depending upon the size of the area. It’s great for treating stretch marks and keloid scars which makes it a popular body treatment for many clients.

What are the benefits?
  • Improves the appearance of scars, stretch marks & hyperpigmentation
  • Increases the effectiveness of skincare products
  • Improves the skins texture & thickness
  • Tightens & tones the skin
  • Improves skin hydration
  • Reduces wrinkles
What can I expect during the treatment?

As Microneedling is a results-driven treatment, it isn’t as relaxing as other facial treatments. However, it is completely normal to experience a little discomfort. Throughout the treatment, your therapist will be continuously checking in to see how you are feeling.

How many sessions do I need?

To massively improve texture and your skins overall appearance, we would recommend a course of 3-6 sessions and to have them every 2-4 weeks for optimum results, dependant upon the severity of your skin concerns.

When will I see results?

You will experience redness and maybe tightness of the skin straight away but results can be seen within a week of treatment.

It’s important to avoid touching your face afterwards to prevent bacteria from spreading. We also recommend avoiding make-up for at least 12 hours after treatment, avoid exercise 24 hours after treatment and avoid sun-beds for up to 3 days after treatment.
